Our first adventure of the day was to cross a bridge over the highway to explore Longueuil. We were enticed by a beautiful, majestic Catholic Church. As we walked through the neighborhood we discovered an area where they shut down a portion of the road for the summer so people can enjoy a park and a variety of shops and restaurants. We ended up coming back to this spot for dinner out- our first since we started the trip. Montreal has an amazing biking path system. The trails go for miles and miles. We were lucky enough to have one of them just outside our campground. The path followed the St Lawrence river so there was always something to look at. Many of the bikers were suited up in their official biking gear and obviously training. We were a strange site with our camping attire and on mountain bikes. None-the-less, we really enjoyed the cool breeze, flat land, and the well marked path. We rode for 16 miles! we took another Ferry ride into Old Port Montreal to continue exploring the sites and soaking in the culture. It has been a nice change of pace to be in a city, around a lot of people doing touristy things. We would come back here again, it is a vibrant city with lots of positive energy.
