August 28: Grindstone Island – Day 2

Life here is very unique, it is like people who come here leave behind their rat race mentality and enter a different existence. They are friendly and unguarded and generous and curious about one another and they make an effort to connect on a genuine level. We were invited to go to church with John and Fran this morning. Our means of transportation was a wagon on the back of an ATV. I felt like a kid on a hay ride. Right away I knew I would be comfortable when I was greeted by a dog at the church entrance. Lots of music and stories and talk about love. After church we rode back home in the wagon but not before an invitation was extended by friends to join them later on that day at their dock. We played pickle ball on a tennis court, swam, and took a boat ride around the island. We stopped by their friends for friendly conversation, drinks and snacks. we ended our day with dinner and games. We all need to have a place we can go where we can let go of what doesn’t matter and enjoy one another and the simple pleasures of life.
