Our journey is full of synchronous surprises. As we were looking for our campground in Hickory Run State Park, we happened upon Sand Spring Lake. At first it only appeared to be a big dirt parking lot with a fair amount of cars. We had to climb a bank and once on the crest of it, we saw an oasis: green picnic areas, and a lake with a beach, it looked like a small ocean. There were families, children’s laughter, splashing, playing – wholesome family fun. Once again people were submerged in nature connecting with one another and being in the moment. Dan and I watched minnow( I think) diving at the lake, some plunged, some skimmed, some only came close, just like humans’ approaches to life. After we found our campsite we hit the trails: a trail called Shades of Death, was not at all ominous but magical as it followed a creek and gifted us with amazing waterfalls. This too was a good lesson from Nature: we can choose to live our life like waterfalls, go with the flow and ride the rocks of our life.
